Where 2 or more are gathered

This is a teaching of Jesus Christ as recorded by Matthew aka Levi. Jesus started off by stating that whenever we agree on earth the same shall be done by the Father. Then going on to say where 2 or more are gathered in My Name, I shall be there with them Almost all church meetings comprise of at least 5 individuals, so obviously they'll be at least two of them. But this scripture is not as straight forward as most would have us think. I would imagine that Abraham had the same thoughts when he stood with God outside of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. In his intercession, it would seem that his intention was that God should not destroy those cities. "Are you going to destroy the just and the righteous? Far it be from you", he did not think that God would destroy the cities with the number of righteous people who were there. So he counted down and stopped at 10, in contrast Jesus counted down and stopped at 2. But 2 is still a huge number. When God went to Sodom and Gomorrha, 10 was too much for Him, in fact He couldn't even find 1. Now in fairness, Sodom and Gomorrha were not the church, so we could expect a higher number to please God. If God finds us gathered in His name, would He at least find 10? Before we answer that, let's go through the following concepts. Where 2 or more are gathered...is this literal of figurative? If this is in any way similar to that of Sodom, then it is literal, that God wants at least 2 individuals for Him to be with us. They should be gathered in His Name, that's very important. But what's more important is, Who or who decides whether they are gathered in His Name? We could hide in the bushes and wait for someone coming back from work and slit their throats in Jesus' Name. We could shoplift in His Name, we could commit adultery, fornicate, lie, practice divination and idolatry in His Name. Would that be accurate? Would He be the 3rd if we were 2? On the other side, if we use the fact that God is omnipresent, we could argue that wherever any 2 meet, Jesus is there with them. Whether they met in His Name or not. By virtue of God being omnipresent, He is always with us, but by virtue of His perfect character, He is not always on our sides. We could agree then, that when Jesus says where 2 or more are gathered in My Name, I will be there with them, He means He will be on their side. Not just His presence but His fellowship. So now that we have that clarified, do we then have 2 or more gathered in His Name? Some would say yes, because each Friday we meet in His Name, same for Saturday and Sunday, in His Name. We forget that we are the ones who decide that it is in His Name, regardless of how misaligned we are with Him. It is entirely possible for Christians to meet in His Name the same way the criminals would, and say in His Name while doing evil. Which prompted Him to say, why do you call Me Lord and not do what I command? If many will say Lord in the day of judgement, will it be those who knew they were tarnishing His Name or those that thought they were praising Him? They will say, we prophesied in Your Name, cast out demons in Your Name, and He will say, I never knew you, workers of iniquity. Many who have been called will not be chosen. Two is a far greater number than we initially thought, Abraham thought that God would find 10 so He stopped there, Jesus just wants 2, so that He spares us all, prior the flood He only wanted 8, when they built the calf to worship He wanted Moses. If God finds us gathered, will He find 2? And if He does find those, will you be among them? Each day, many people die and go to heaven or hell and as much as we would not want to admit, most of them are going to hell. And while they were still living, we did not care enough to talk to them about the Kingdom of God. God is more concerned about the fate of the deceased more than He is about his or her burial. He mentions that the rich man was buried and it seemed that Lazarus had no one to pay their last respects to. And if Abraham's words as recorded by Jesus are true, once the rich man was there, there was no way of getting to the other side, or going from the dead to warn people because the prophets were already doing their jobs. If 2 or more are gathered in His Name, He will be among them in fellowship, not just presence. This promise is not just for everyone who claims to be gathered in His Name, but for those who He acknowledges are gathered in His Name. Because you might gather in His Name by your own standards but it is useless if not meeting His. This is not to discourage anyone but rather to encourage all of us to strive to be among those 2. Like Paul said to run as one wanting to take the medal and win the race. This scripture has been abused far too long, to give us self satisfaction, but God is only coming because of the few. Some would look at this and thing to themselves, well, maybe we should isolate ourselves, stay in our rooms and not be influenced by the ones who weren't chosen. One of the qualities of those who were chosen, that made them distinct was their ability to intercede. If Moses kept quite God would have destroyed the whole nation, same if Abraham had not. If God hears my prayers because you prayed for me don't forget that he heard yours because someone prayed for you as well. We need individuals like Isaiah who said, here I am, send me. Because, unlike the devil who has lots of people at His disposal, God has few, and you could be the only one in this group. You could be the only one in your family, amongst your friends, colleagues or classmates, and there you are folding your arms. In the last days, we will regret sermons we chose not to hear and sermons we chose not to preach. I have an element in me which limits God from talking because it's in war against God. It decides what I should listen to, it stops me from speaking His Words eloquently, it wants me to perish and wants others to die with me. And if I do not put it on the cross, I will never be amongst those 2, because even in the church with its millions. Those who are his do not even fill the Palm of His hand⚓
